I have a 2001 kia sportage that is (well I think) backfireing and has no get up and go. I think it is the spark plugs. I have no idea where the are located or how to change them. CAN YOU HELP? I am a single mother with very little money, but I need my car fixed. ThanksHow to I change spark plugs for my 2001 kia sportage? where are the located?
Hey Susanna....(no pun intended)
This IS NOT a job you want to attempt...in fact most mechanics would probably look at this and say ARG!
do yourself a favor and contact a local shop to price it out..and then save for it....I know that $ is an issue for you ...but this is way over your head.... it involves more than just spark plugs.
good luck. How to I change spark plugs for my 2001 kia sportage? where are the located?
well you first look for them on the side of the block either behind or infron t and once located take a 13/16 socket and take one out and look at the number on the side of the plug and go to autozone or any parts dealer and tell them what you need . and do one at a time like take the plug wire off and then the plug out and put the plug in and wire back on.......your problem might be the fule filter tooo....
Its a DOHC motor with the spark plugs running down the center of the cylinder head. You will need to remove the upper intake manifold to gain access to them. This is probably not a job for the novice.
