leave it in park take off the front engine mount and pull the car forward with another car that engine will lay over nice Ive done itHow do you rock the engine in 1996 Buick Century to change spark plugs?
There is a special tool made to move the engine. I have one that I bought off the Snap-On truck for about $65. For the most part I never use it, I just reach around the back and do what I have to do. Bearing in mind I've been doing this for 25 years, experience does mean somthing. If you're going to put in plugs you should replace the wires too. Chances are good at least one will break when you try to pull it off.How do you rock the engine in 1996 Buick Century to change spark plugs?
think they said to drop the engine. to get to the plugs but need to say more about this.
Isn,t there a engine mount in rthe front that looks like a dog bone .You just remove one bolt they pry the engine
remove the dog bone mount, just from the upper rad support side there may be 2 of them if so do the other 2
grab the back side of the engine pull it forward and place a 4 by 4 block of wood behind the motor, care full not to break any sensors or anything .that will give you enough room to change your plugs
the first answer is right but you don't have to ';pull'; the car forward. have someone push on it from behind and you put a chock behind the rear wheel. if this is the first plug change, get ready to rumble 'cause they're in there really tight.
The first 2 answers are good, I've done it in neutral with the parking brake on several times. Alternator replacement requires the same move.
After you rock the motor forward you'll see another bolt hole for you to put the mount's bolt through to hold the motor in place while you do your thing.
